ON GOING PROGRAMS
APWCFC have been the pioneers in the Capacity building of rural women in Andhra Pradesh in various vocations both in technical and service sectors with a integrated developmental approach of training facilitating women to acquire self/wage employment Opportunities since 1986. During the course of being a capacity builder has been proactive towards changing needs of women from time to time.
The broad interventions have been introduction of
-Production centers for giving an opportunity for the trainees to fine tune their skills for perfection to earn while they learn.
-Facilitating to up grade marketing skills by providing design development branding, pricing packing and product diversification through Taruni recourse center.
-Introducing Incubator concept to those woken who have the skill and entrepreneurial skills but wishes to have a launching pad to introduce their products are given an opportunity to market test their product and after acceptance to ground their unit.
-Introduced Mother Unit concept for those women who have the basics skill and do not possess the entrepreneurial skills the product is standardized the pricing packing and marketing of the product responsibility is taken up the Corporation to give an opportunity for women to operate from their houses.
Keeping in touch with the changes in the Global scenario, Changing Market trends and the lack of budgetary support from the State Government has taken up new initiatives to spearhead the corporation towards self sustainability. Corporation with the experience of handling various multifaceted has decided to go in for public-private partnership to build up sustainable micro enterprise development for the rural women economic empowerment.
The growing need and demand for Food clothing and shelter by entreating into Joint ventures with commercially viable projects for both domestic and International Markets. The areas in which the Corporation has entered into joint ventures are Merchandising and Fashion Technology, Safe Drinking water, Food Processing, foot wear manufacturing, Jewelry, food courts to start with in the first phase.
EXPORT MARKETING AVENUES FOR WOMEN PRODUCTS
Corporation in its endeavor to provide marketing support to the products produced by women groups, women entrepreneurs and also to improve the standardization, packaging branding, pricing and publicity through Taruni Resource Center. The objective of the Center is to eliminate exploitation by the middle men, the trade agents and to provide better bargaining power to the Women Producers in the State. This Center would also encourage the local talent by providing space to shelf their products and to create marketing platform, giving them exposure to the modern marketing and sales techniques, for strengthening marketing. It is contemplated that this resource center provides continuous guidance to women micro entrepreneurs in brand management, up gradation of their skills, quality improvement, design development, standardization of products etc.,
The products that are generally being shelved, displayed and marketed through these Centers, Readymade garments, Handicrafts, Jute/Mesta/Palm/Leaf/Paper pulp articles Block Printed saris, Kalankari articles Brass/Bidri works Toys Lace works Coir Mats Embroidery, Zardosi, and Ari works etc., which have exportable potential Hence an agreement has been entered with the Only Place of Australia to create and International marketing platform under the Taruni Brand umbrella
FOOD PROCESSING
The Corporation has tied up with M/S. Agri Gold Exims Limited to initially to market the Agri Gold brand Food Products ranging from Single spices/blended spices, Instant Mixes/Ready to Eat Foods, Curry pastes/pickles, Ice cream powders/Custadard Powders/Milk shakes, Health Care Products and Beauty Care Products to capture the International market and simultaneously tie up the women groups and standardize their product line through the internationally accepted specifications of Agri Gold product line and franchise the Taruni brand. This tie up would create the International marketing platform for the women groups in the food product line and removing the middle men for getting better bargaining power for their product. And streamline and standardize the women food entrepreneurs in food processing of urban/rural Andhra Pradesh by franchising Taruni Brand to create a marketing platform to the to their products.
DIAMOND CUTTING AND POLISHING
In view of the of global hub for diamond market and the Gem and Jewelry park coming up at Srisailam road which has a potential for creating employment opportunity for 2000 women looking at the great potential for both self employment and wage employment has taken the opportunity to train rural /semi urban/urban women in the State in Lapidary (Diamond Cutting And Polishing) for ninety days drawing expert trainers from the industry at its Hyderabad Mahila Vikasa Ken dram at Kukatpalli.
WORKING WOMEN HOSTELS
Women in Andhra Pradesh have few choices for housing outside of family sources. Working women’s hostels provide socially acceptable opportunities for women to live independently. Hostels are becoming increasingly common for women who migrate to urban areas for education or employment, but many hostels do not appropriately address their needs. To cater to this target women group joint venture has been thought of. The Corporation has already gained rich experience in Construction and maintenance of Working Women Hostels in the State.
TARUNI UNNATH FOOD - AMMAMMA AND NANAMMA RUCHULU
Due to rise in urban working population there is a great demand for the hygienically made ethnic homely food at the right place at the right time. To tap this growing demand and to create employment opportunity to women is entering into joint venture under the banner of TARUNI UNNATH FOOD - AMMAMMA AND NANAMMA RUCHULU with Unnath Restaurant and caterers who have been into this business line for more then 15 years and is setting up 5 such centers in twin cities to start with and intends to open 50 out lets in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy and extend it to other districts.
MERCHANDISING AND FASHION TECHNOLOGY
Keeping in view the employment and Marketing opportunities at various garment factories, in the State and at National level, and to garner these employment opportunities for the unemployed rural women in Andhra Pradesh, APWCFC has decided to conduct a first of its kind course in ‘Merchandising and Fashion Technology' in readymade apparel garment field and establish Production cum Marketing Centers across the State. The 30-day course will cover basic stitching, packing, quality etc. with an assured Marketing tie up which would give them skills to manufacture quality garments. A unit of M/S Golden Apparels has been taken for lease And Merchandising and Fashion Technology.
SAFE DRINKING WATER –TARUNI WATER PLANTS
Bottled water consumption has grown exponentially over the past ten to fifteen years. This growth has taken place globally, but particularly in India also. The bottled water industry has literally created its own water culture. For example, when one enters a gas station, grocery store or a restaurant in any country of the world, one is bound to find at least a few different brands of bottled water. Bottled water is somewhat less likely to be found in developing countries, where public water is least safe to drink. Many Government programs regularly disperse easier than distributing large bulk storages of water. Also contamination from large water storage containers is much more likely than single 12-20 ounce bottles of water.
With this background Corporation to combat the water prone diseases in the rural areas and to improve the health of the rural women and children and to build awareness on the safe drinking water is proposing to start “Taruni Mineral Water Plants” in the districts in the state to start with on an average three plants each district including one plant in the premises of the Durgabai Mahila Sisu Vikasa Kendras. These Plants while providing safe drinking water would create employment opportunities to women in the areas of bottling and distribution of water.
FOOT WEAR MANUFACTURING
Foot wear has becoming one of the main accessories in the Merchandising and Fashion Technology and men and women prefer designer wear shoes and Chappals as an integrated part of fashion. There is high potential for exports and employment creation in this sector. Corporation to tap this sector has set up training cum production center at chilkur on pilot basis with Sri Saiteja Industries
